THE RIDLEY PROJECT
Lost for decades, the rediscovered recordings of this embryonic band feature Greg Ridley's (ex Humble Pie & Spooky Tooth) inspirational bass and occasional backing vocals with singer/songwriter Paul Daffurn, guitarist Tim Price and drummer Terry Mackenzie.
This particular combination of musicians evolved organically in the late 1990s. Following months of playing music together in the relaxed atmosphere of Greg's sitting room, Paul had urged him to pick up his bass again. He did, naturally, and before long he was back in his element.
These recordings are a poignant reminder of the talented Mr Ridley's great personality and charisma. All the songs were written by Paul, most of them specifically with Greg in mind, and they are a lasting tribute to a dear friend, sadly missed.
Paul and Tim performed a selection of the songs at The Party for Greg (The Carling Academy, London) with Mike Kellie and Friends, on November 20th 2004 following Greg’s untimely passing in 2003.
